ABOUT US

Discover Ireland at your own pace and cover more ground in a shorter span of time on a self-drive tour. Our expertly designed itineraries take you from region to region through villages, National Parks, historic sites and along the most scenic routes imaginable.

Can't chose between the Dingle Peninsula and the Cliffs of Moher? No problem. Looking for a nice mix of landscapes, popular attractions and hidden gems? We've got you!

While most travellers tend to visit Ireland between April and September – when we have the most daylight hours – a self-drive tour can be planned for any time of year.

Past Traveler Feedback

Would definitely recommend to all of our family and friends! Such an easy, stress-free way to travel. They took the hassle out of planning each and every single day, but the itinerary gave us the flexibility to go with our own flow too. As we traveled from town to town we never had to worry about finding a good place to stay, a good meal, or finding something to do. Exceptional communication throughout the trip too just to check in with us or answer questions if we had them.
CASSANDRA

Maurice helped us create a wonderful itinerary for our 3 weeks in Ireland. They were very attentive, flexible and easy to work with. They really want you to have a great trip and stay in touch while you are there. Our trip was self-guided, part with drivers arranged with IWHB and part with a car we rented. I would definitely plan a trip again with their great knowledge and heart!
REBECCA & WAIT

I seldom enlist help from companies to plan my trips. However, I found myself with too little time to arrange our trip to Ireland, so reached out to three recommended tour groups for help. Ireland Walk Hike Bike responded almost immediately and quickly understood our needs and desires. Their attention never wavered and they answered my questions knowledgeably and graciously. The arrangements made were flawless, I’m still in awe. When we had to make last minute changes, they took care of them.

Having watched many travelers flash through Ireland, founder Linda Woods wanted to provide a more slow-paced, immersive approach to experiencing the country. “My aim was to slow people down so that they could really sink their feet into the soul of the country, meet the locals and discover what makes Ireland and the Irish tick.”

Whether you're looking to walk, hike or bike, or a combination, our team of local travel specialists and guides are here to ensure that you have a most delightful and memorable trip to Ireland.

Ireland Self-Drive Tours

In response to recent times of uncertainty in relation to travel, we have introduced a more flexible booking policy. Details concerning final payment terms and cancellation / postponement options are outlined below.

Balancing payments
Our new balancing payment (final payment) deadline is now 28 days prior to the start of your tour.

Cancellations
We will request a deposit of €150.00 per person to confirm all new bookings. However, for 2022, this will no longer be non-refundable. If you were to cancel up to 28 days before your trip we will be able to refund you €100.00 per person.

If you need to cancel your trip between 28 days and 14 days prior to your holiday start date 50% of all monies paid will be refundable.

If you need to cancel your trip less than 14 days prior to arrival all monies paid are non-refundable.

Postponement
We will allow you to postpone your trip and transfer all monies paid to another date up to 14 days before your trip. You do not need to have your new dates on hand at the time of postponement, we will hold your payment on file up to the end of 2023.

If you have to postpone within 14 – 7 days of your arrival we are happy to transfer your total payment amount minus the €150 deposit per person to your new date.

If you need to postpone within 7 days we will recoup as much of the total payment (less your deposit) as possible to credit towards your new dates.

(continued) The staff was professional, thoughtful, caring and accurate. They provided accommodations, a rental car (with appropriate insurance), off-line mapping for the drive and hikes, excellent restaurant recommendations, historical and natural context to our travels; truly full service. And the cost was reasonable with no up charges for any rearrangements I required. I certainly would recommend them to travellers for a trip to Ireland. In this case, we couldn’t have done our trip without them!

Check into one of many charming bed-and-breakfasts or guesthouses for an affordable and traditional Irish stay. Found in most small towns and villages, these cozy inns epitomize "céad míle fáilte" – land of "a hundred thousand welcomes" – with outstanding personal service and warm Irish hospitality. Start your day with a hearty breakfast before exploring the tranquil countryside, historic sites and nearby villages. At night, unwind by a roaring fire, warm drink and a freshly baked treat.

In our larger towns and cities, there’s no shortage of excellent hotels ranging from three to five stars. Hotels vary in size, comfort level and amenities, and we work only with quality properties with excellent service.

If you’re looking to experience the ultimate in historical opulence, treat yourself to a night or two at one of Ireland’s Castles or Manor Houses. Often set on expansive acreage, these impressive former homes feature lavishly furnished staterooms replete with antiques and treasured artwork, polished chandeliers, marble fireplaces, sophisticated cuisine, spa services, manicured gardens, and activities such as walking trails, horse riding, golf, fishing and fish-smoking.
