Past Traveler Feedback

IWBH organized a walking holiday on the Kerry Way for us. We could not have been more satisfied with IWBH's organization, communication, responsiveness, and with the arrangements it made on our behalf. The staff at IWBH is friendly and delightful to work with. The trip went off without any hitches whatsoever. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and inviting. Every transfer, and every step of the itinerary, went smoothly. And, of course, the scenery, countryside, villages, historical sites, and pubs along the way were exactly as imagined. We would recommend IWBH to anyone interested in an Irish walking holiday and we will use IWBH again if we return for another one.

Another great experience with this company. Have just returned from another guided hike with this great company. I've travelled from Australia several times to do guided group walks with Ireland walk hike bike. This was the wild Atlantic way and islands. Again I was so impressed with our guide Linda, the lovely bed and breakfasts and small hotels we stayed in and the well organised transport. Last but not least there is the beautiful Irish countryside to immerse yourself in. I'll be doing another one.

Everything was perfect. Great personalized service. Knowledgeable, very nice and very experienced guides. Great choice of walks, B&Bs, restaurants, side visits and excellent recommendations. Very detailed oriented, they treat each one of their walkers as unique special guests. I have used many walking companies in Europe and I know I am a tough demanding customer. They are at the top 1%, they excel in every area.

Having watched many travelers flash through Ireland, founder Linda Woods wanted to provide a more slow-paced, immersive approach to experiencing the country. “My aim was to slow people down so that they could really sink their feet into the soul of the country, meet the locals and discover what makes Ireland and the Irish tick.”

Whether you're looking to walk, hike or bike, or a combination, our team of local travel specialists and guides are here to ensure that you have a most delightful and memorable trip to Ireland.

MEET SEAN

Born in Ballina, Co.Mayo on the west coast of Ireland I spent every available moment of my youth rambling the rugged fields and mountains that surrounded me. My early interests were fishing (I lived within earshot of the weirs that tumble into the world famous Ridge Pool on the River Moy), foraging and hunting. Later I played music and enjoyed success as a song writer.

I have been living in Dublin for 40 years now and somehow still manage to bring a smile to my wife Marian’s face.  We have 2 boys who by now are nearly as old as the two of us!!

Lucky moment was when I met Linda 6 years ago in the mountains around Dingle in Co. Kerry. I had just retired and we have worked together since. I love my work. It gives me a chance to pursue my pastime and gather more stories. I still pursue my ‘old interests’ but Irish history and folklore seem to blend in well with my life experience to date.

I stumbled onto IWHB by chance over the internet. My first hike with them was an 8-day guided hike in Kerry, which was absolutely wonderful in every possible way. I was impressed out of my skull with how well-organized everything was and how knowledgeable the guide. I went on my second hike with IWHB two years later, this time on a self-guided one. The views were beautiful again (and the sheep, oh the sheep), and I was again as pleased as I could be: with the package they prepared for us and with the accommodations and the transfers. I will be coming back again and again.

Flexible Booking Policy
In response to recent times of uncertainty in relation to travel, we have introduced a more flexible booking policy. Details concerning final payment terms and cancellation / postponement options are outlined below.

Balancing Payments
Our new balancing payment (final payment) deadline is now 28 days prior to the start of your tour.

Cancellations
We will request a deposit of €150.00 per person to confirm all new bookings. However, for 2022, this will no longer be non-refundable. If you were to cancel up to 28 days before your trip we will be able to refund you €100.00 per person. If you need to cancel your trip between 28 days and 14 days prior to your holiday start date 50% of all monies paid will be refundable. If you need to cancel your trip less than 14 days prior to arrival all monies paid are non-refundable.

Postponement
We will allow you to postpone your trip and transfer all monies paid to another date up to 14 days before your trip. You do not need to have your new dates on hand at the time of postponement, we will hold your payment on file up to the end of 2023. If you need to postpone within 14 days we will recoup as much of the total payment (less your deposit) as possible to credit towards your new dates.

"A day on a hike" with Sean

Sean's "local" hiking hack

No 1 Clean your boots after each hike. They will remain in good order and prevent wet feet

No 2 Wash your waterproofs at least once a year. They will remain waterproof and you can be sure of staying dry

No 3 Always carry food and extra layers of clothing

No 4 Know when your body is telling you "I’ve had enough for today, buddy."

No 5 Carry some Sheep Wool, if you're willing to try it! It prevents blisters and is even better than plasters (bandaids), Moleskin or Compeed. It’s free on every bush and bramble!
